I would really like to see a feature on the place/role of women in French society of today. La guinguette might look at things like: the home, emancipation, education, the workplace, politics etc.
Bearing in mind that the purpose of the articles is to widen ones knowledge of the french language I think it would help comprehension a great deal if a short commentary were to be included after each article. It could be a reference to the way certain terms are expressed or some point of grammar. Vocabulary is also important. Words are best remembered, I find, when they are put in contex.
By tagging on a list of words to a topic it is possible to learn a much larger number of words and to learn them sooner. I would also like, and I am sure Richard would like a greater emphasis on comments centered around language and vocabulary.
I would like to know if any of the readers of the articles found some were more difficult to understand than others. Can some one please tell me which articles they particularly liked .
My favourite article was about the Silk Weavers of Lyons. I am sure others will have their own favourites. There were a number of words in this article which I found interesting. I look forward to other readers comments.
Here are some topics I feel are worth investigating.1)The changing climatic conditions in France and the effect on farming and on industry. 2)The problems affecting the Tour de France. 3)Emigration and immigration relating to France. 4) Railways and France. 5)Nuclear energy and France. 6)Castles and monuments in France. 7)Living in France. 8) Biographies of some well known French writers.
