A l'ouest, il fera beau samedi et dimanche en Bretagne. Le ciel sera clair.
To the West, it will be fine on Saturday and Sunday in Brittany. The sky will be clear.

Ce sera la même chose au sud du pays, en Provence, en Camargue et dans le Roussillon. Le soleil brillera très fort.
It will be the same to the South of the country, in Provence, the Camargue and in Roussillon. The sun will shine very brightly.

Des nuages couvriront le ciel à l'est, en Alsace. Il pleuvra dimanche et le vent soufflera fort. La neige tombera.
Clouds will cover the sky to the East, in Alsace. It will rain on Sunday and the wind will blow strongly. Snow will fall.

Au nord, il fera très froid et il y aura beaucoup de vent.
To the North it will be very cold and there will be a lot of wind.

Il neigera en montagne, dans les Alpes.
It will snow in the mountains, in the Alps.

Le futur

When we want to talk about the future, we need to use a verb in the future tense. Today we are going to look at le futur simple.

For verbs in Groups One and Two, such as manger, donner, choisir, finir, we form le futur simple by taking the whole of the infinitive as the stem, and then adding the ending:

 -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont

So we have for example: 

and with choisir:

Notice in particular the sound r in the ending: 

-rai, -ras, -ra, -rons, -rez, -ront

In fact, you should think of the r as the key to the formation of the futur. It is always present.

The irregular verbs of Group Three have the same ending as Group One and Two verbs in le futur simple but the stem can vary.

Some Group Three verbs endings in -ir such as dormir or partir behave just like Group One and Two verbs. For example:

dormir Elle dormira dans ma chambre si elle veut.
partir Nous partirons le plus tôt possible.

With Group Three verbs such as prendre you need to drop off the 'e' from the infinitive:

prendre  Nous prendrons les précautions nécessaires.
comprendre Je comprendrai mieux après vos explications, c'est sûr.

For more irregular verbs, it is just a question of learning the appropriate roots. Here are some examples:

	faire - to do, to make
	le futur simple  je ferai tu feras il / elle fera nous ferons vous ferez ils / elles feront

Je ferai les comptes.

Tu feras les démarches à la banque.

Il fera des progrès.

Nous ferons notre possible.

Vous ferez des erreurs.

Elles feront un énorme bénéfice.

Je voudrai une augmentation si je travaille plus.

Tu voudras un café après le repas? 

Il voudra aller au cinéma, c'est sûr.

Nous voudrons voir le dossier pour faire des vérifications.

Vous voudrez bien m'excuser mais je serai en retard à la réunion.

Elles voudront savoir si vous viendrez les voir bientôt.
